The Philippines

Like most people during the Chinese New Year celebration, we got the hell outta there. We went to the sunny warm Philippines for the vacation. We flew directly into Cebu City for our trip and stayed on the islands of Cebu, Negros, and tiny Apo. It felt like going back to Latin America rather than Asia. The liveliness of the streets, the kindness of the people, and the raw inefficiency made me pine for South America. The Filipinos were extremely friendly and welcomed us to their luscious country.

Magellan's cross. The original cross is encased inside the wood of this cross for protection.

The famous Lechon of Cebu, ordered by the kilo.

I had heard cock fighting was big in The Philippines. It's not big, it's the only thing some people do. I think the owner loved this one more than his wife.

A difficult hike to the Casaroro falls in Apolong Valencia.

Valentine's day done right.

Looking for sharks!

A fun music night at Hayahay in Dumaguete.

A sunset in Apo after a day of swimming with turtles.

Finishing the Philippines the correct way, with karaoke!

Victoria

From Gold Coast we jumped another quick flight to Melbourne.  It was time to explore Victoria.  Our overly gracious buddy Dave lent us his sweet wheels so we could do some exploring including the Great Ocean Road and the Yarra Valley.  We finally went out and checked out his side of Vic to see how the Gippsland would treat us.

A little slice of home in Melbourne.

A summer's day picnic.

Driving the Holden Commodore like a true bogan.

A furry friend is coming down for a visit.

Riding the tram.

Some yummy Yarra Valley wines.

I'm going to find a hoppy friend here soon.

What a ranga.

"Hey, did you know that's the most southern point in mainland Australia." "Yupp, it said so on the map."
