Bangkok

For May Day we got away for a replay of something out of everyday. You know what they say "while the cat's away, the rats will play." Na and co. hosted us for a super fun weekend!

Borneo Jungle River Kinabatanga

As well as climbing the mountain we also visited Kota Kinabalu and went into the river Kinabatanga to see the jungle. We saw many animals, including several hornbills, kingfishers, orangutans, proboscis monkeys, sun bears, monitor lizards, and a wild boar. A large portion of these pictures were taken by my cousin Greg. I cannot take credit for his excellent work.

Sepilok Orangutan center. We also saw a wild one, but this is the best picture.

Borneo - Mount Kinabalu

Hong Kong is connected directly by a quick flight to Kota Kinabalu, the capital of the Sabah region of Malaysian Borneo. We went to Borneo two accomplish two things: climb Mount Kinabalu and see an Orangutan. We managed both. First on the list was scaling Southeast Asia's highest peak. Kinabalu rises over the island in an oddly shaped mass of granite and limestone. Climbing starts through tropical rainforest. The first day brings you the the edge of the treeline before summiting early early on day two.

Looking up at the mountain from below the night before.

Still fresh and ready.

Making it to hut two in style.

On top of the final foothill.

A few steps from the final hut can be the worst.

Early early.

The group made it on top!
