Isla de los Ladrones

When Ferdinand Magellan landed on Guam, he very quickly came to a misunderstanding with the Chamorro people on the island. After some trading went wrong, and the Chomorros took what they understood to be a gift of a few boats and ropes, Magellan retaliated by burning down a number of coastal villages. Sailing away from Guam, he names it Thieves Island because he believe the Chomorros were nothing better than pirates.

Eva and I also had several run ins with the Chomorro people, but our experience was the opposite. We couch-surfed with Jess and Marty on the island and had one of our best travel experiences to date. The local couple showed us underground pools deep inside caves, old cave paintings dating back several hundred years, cool coastal spots, and the best local island BBQ one could imagine.

Hiking to the hidden cave.

Memorial to those lost in the Battle of Guam.

Cave painting at Gadao's Cave.

Found on the bottom of Guam.

Chamorro Monday Night BBQ.

Horrible quality picture, but fun none the less.
